I know for a fact that my own pancreas has kept me alive many times - at least out of jail anyway. Adrenaline doesn't care if you are brave or cowardly, it gives you the clarity and strength you need to carry out whatever plan you've come up with: scamper up a tree or stand your ground to fight, die and be eaten like a man.
